Background

The Stitchery Limited is a new business that is seeking staff who will grow with us. Our goal is to provide New Zealand designers with drafting, sampling, and small-scale production services from our headquarters in Porirua. Due to be being new, we are in the process of securing clients and this involves having some people who are ready to go as contractors when the time is right.

We strongly believe in providing a high quality experience, not only for our clients, but also for our staff. We believe in providing our staff with the living wage, and as we grow, this hourly rate will grow too.

Providing development opportunities is also important to us – this is an entry level role. We would love to hire people who are motivated in advancing into becoming a pattern drafting and production specialist at The Stitchery.

We are a flexible employer — we are open to atypical work hours which are able to work around other employment & family commitments you may have. The number of hours worked per week is also flexible — we will work with you to come up with a work schedule.

Our core values

We advocate for diversity and inclusion

We are an inclusive environment and celebrate diversity. The Stitchery is a safe place to share ideas and to be your authentic-self. There is no tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, size-ism, sexism, and ableism.

We empower our customers

To learn and create their own visions, whether that is through the manufacturing part of the business, or the workshop and classes part.

We provide quality and fair services for our customers and for our staff

To have a meaningful impact we aim to create ethical products using, where possible, local producers and suppliers. This includes paying, at the very minimum, the living wage to our staff, and making sure everything is accounted for financially, in other words we won’t do anything for free and we won’t ask you to do anything for free!
