The Art of Making a Vintage Peignoir

Gorgeous, Luxurious 1930s Dressing Gown

About this experience

Calling all lovers of the romantic and feminine! The Stitchery is now offering our much asked for workshop - ‘The Art of Making a Vintage Peignoir’. This workshop is the perfect offering for all members of the sewing community seeking that golden age, Hollywood glamour.

In this class, we will help you make a delicate sheer fabric gown, with a ruffled bottom and the classic dramatic sleeves - focussed on your boudoir vision, whether you’re channelling your inner coquette, black widow, ingénue or femme fatale!

This workshop is for intermediate and above sewers, so if you haven't sewn before this is not the course to start to learn. Experience with handling large amounts of fabric is useful but not essential. We will have a maximum of four students per class to ensure you get a boutique experience and quality time with the tutor.

The cost of over ten meters of fine fabric is included in the price of the workshop. This is because it is important for us that everyone has the best outcome possible with fabric of an ideal thickness, breathability, weight and drape. This is also the authentic fabric used in the past, and available in traditional as well as modern luminous shades.

Once you have signed up for the course, we will be in contact to send you a colour chart of options and individuals are welcome to bring their own trimmings and feathers if they wish. You will also receive a paper copy of the pattern in your size, so you can make as many gorgeous gowns as you wish!

This is a body and age positive space, supportive of all queer and gender diverse identities - so all shapes and presentations are welcome.
